Seated Calf Raise
Also known as: Machine Seated Calf Raise, Bent-Knee Calf Raise
Instructions
Sitting with a pad across your lower thighs, you lift your heels as high as they will go. The bent knee shifts the work to the deeper calf muscle, and nothing rests on your shoulders or back.

Setup
- 1Sit down and place the balls of your feet on the edge of the foot plate, heels hanging free.
- 2Adjust the pad so it rests snugly on your lower thighs, just above the knees.
- 3Lift your heels a little and move the safety lever aside to take the weight.
Execution
- 1Lower your heels slowly until you feel a full stretch along the back of your lower legs.
- 2Pause for a moment at the bottom so you are not bouncing.
