Preacher Curl
Also known as: EZ-Bar Preacher Curl, Scott Curl, Preacher Bench Curl
Instructions
A curl performed with your upper arms resting on a sloped pad. Because the pad stops your body from swinging, the biceps do all the lifting — especially in the lower, stretched part of the rep.
- Movement
- Elbow flexion
- Type
- Isolation
- Level
- Beginner
- Typical range
- 8–20 reps
Setup
- 1Adjust the seat so your armpits sit close to the top edge of the pad.
- 2Rest the backs of your upper arms flat on the pad and take the bar with palms facing up.
- 3Start with your arms almost straight, keeping a slight bend in the elbows.
Execution
- 1Curl the weight up by bending your elbows, keeping your upper arms on the pad.
- 2Stop when your forearms are just short of vertical so the biceps stay under tension.
